I Still Hate Duran Duran

In a recent review, Chris Allen discusses the new remaster of Duran Duran's Rio.  It's a well-written piece that you should probably read, and it almost makes me want to listen to the album, it's that persuasive, however, I don't think anything can get me past one simple fact, I still hate Duran Duran.

Ha ha. Well, you are a bit younger than me and maybe first experienced them when they hit the wall of suck. It took me a while to get back to liking them, but here I am.

I remember Much Music playing "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Girls on Film" quite often through the 80's, but I was never a fan of their particular brand of 80's pop. Like Flock of Seagulls and Echo and the Bunnymen, I just never took to it. (I was more swayed by The Cure and Depeche Mode).

Ordinary World was probably when I first noticed them AS Duran Duran, and I thought it was horrible and pretentious. I won't even say what I thought of the Timbaland collaboration recently.

"Rio", the song, however, is probably the only Duran Duran song I actually like. I think due to South Park.
